These were a series of works inspired by the Meso-American artifacts of the chimeric beings and distorted, at times comedic figurines from the Anthropology museum during my recent residency in Mexico city. They are mostly Ceramic with fake furs and reclaimed feathers.

One thing to note: while they were inspired by the artifacts in that particular museum they are really just a representation of all ancient artifacts throughout all cultures. They express the idea that at one point in human existence we built idols as interpretations of gods and the creators of life - human mixed with animal and the like. But now through technologies like CRISPR and AI these types of beings will instead one day be born by us. I wanted to keep the pieces light and fun as a departure from the technical more serious aesthetic I usually employ. It's been enriching to explore that middle ground between seriousness and whimsy that I believe, when you strike the perfect balance, creates something truly intriguing.
