4 Horsemen of the Apokatastasis
The maquettes are for the “4 Horsemen of the Apocatastasis", which will be amibitious, life-size sculptures. This artwork series revisits the biblical Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse: Death, Famine, War, and Conquest. The characters are reimagined as centaurs representing Life, Abundance, Peace, and Empathy. They are fictionally constructed through a fusion of synthetic biology, nanotechnology, and neuromorphic quantum computing. Utilizing sourced branches, grown crystals, and advanced technologies like copper-plated leaves and 3D-printed ceramic parts, the fusion of natural and synthetic materials reflects the theme of ecological equilibrium achieved through technology. An apocalypse is defined as “complete final destruction of the world”, whereas apocatastasis is “the restoration of creation to a condition of perfection.” Although the original story is about existential dread, this work is the antithesis and emphasizes hope, regeneration, and transformation.
